EYES RIGHT FOR BACK TO SCHOOL?

New shoes and pens are top on the list of back-to-school preparations, but too few parents are considering the importance of their children being able to see properly, claim opticians. A recent survey conducted by Mumsnet revealed that only 49% of parents take their children for regular eye examinations. Commissioned by the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, it highlighted not just the need for good vision, but the importance of picking up childhood cancers early. London opticians, Roger Pope & Partners are urging parents to make sure their children have the most vital piece of equipment – their eyes – on top form for the new academic year. “It is not just about seeing the white board but also making sure that your child can spot the ball and take part fully in games. Colour filters for dyslexics are also an important aspect of ensuring that children make the most of their time at school. An eye examination takes very little time but can transform a child’s life,” said Roger Pope.
