Op banner sunglasses

A history of the brand

To celebrate the launch of the Cary Grant range of optical frames and sunglasses, today we look at the brand behind the iconic frames: Oliver Peoples.

Born in the heart of Hollywood Oliver Peoples was founded in 1987 with the opening of its first boutique. Influenced by the creative culture of LA, Oliver Peoples started with the goal of crafting beautiful frames of exceptional quality and style. Inspired by the fashion, film, art and music movements of the famous city the brand was born in, Oliver Peoples has received acclaim from both consumers and critics for developing its own heritage and culture.

The designs of the brand are influenced by a vintage style that seeks to forego modern and contemporary designs and colours in favour of the classic, timeless styles in an array of natural finishes with discreet branding and subtle details. Continuing on with their sophisticated and classic designs the vintage aesthetic that inspired the first collections remains at the heart of the brand today.

Each handcrafted collection of sunglasses and optical frames is known for the attention to detail, sculpting and perfecting the materials to achieve a balanced and refined final product. Using centuries old techniques, state of the art machinery and the human touch each frame is tumbled and polished, and finally hand adjusted, carefully referring back to the original drawing created in the design studio in Hollywood.

The subtly elegant frames attract a confident and stylish wearer - one who is quite confident in understated and refined style that Oliver Peoples eyewear has. At Roger Pope and Partners we are proud to stock a range of Oliver Peoples sunglasses, Oliver Peoples optical frames and the new Cary Grant range.
